Sorry love, I just saw this! Okay so Tom Felton is A. DOLL. Seriously, just…I want him in my pocket.
I met Tom Felton at DragonCon. First of all I’m just gunna say straight up, I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan. But I’m a Tom fan and what I do love about Harry Potter is Draco Malfoy so I thought it’d be cool to say hi. I walked up with my friend and everyone in Tom Feltons crowded line was there buying pictures to get signed. We on the other hand just wanted to say hi. Though it was seeming to move painfully slow, we figured since much else was going on at the time, we didn’t mind waiting. So I get up there and Tom had this bitch lady at his table who was saying if you were just saying hi “keep it quick!” and stuff so that the people getting autographs could go. Uncool. So I had this feeling Tom might this stuck up guy who only cared about signing things and moving to the next. NOT THE CASE!
I get up there and he has a pen in hand so I immediately say “hey Tom, oh, we’re not here to get autographs, we just wanted to come say hi!” And he says “oh cool!” and then puts the cap on his marker, puts his marker down, looks back up at us and sticks out his hand. He shakes my hand and waits expectantly for my name so I say “I’m Jenna” and he nods and smiles. He does the same to my friend and she said “Megan.” And then he’s like “Very nice to meet you girls, thank you for coming over to say hello. Are you having a good time?” all British and adorable with a big smile. “Yeah it’s awesome!” my friend and I both said. I saw his line getting bigger so I was just like “I don’t wanna hold the line up too long-” and he cut me off and said “don’t worry about it!” so I smiled and continued “well I just wanted to let you know I’m a huge Draco fan, always have been, and whenever I tell people I love Draco they’re like ‘what does that say about your personality?!’ which I guess is true but I don’t even care haha.” And he laughed and said “well I think it says great things! Draco..he was very, very misunderstood. So I think it’s good that you see that.” And I was like “Well next time they say something then I’ll say Tom Felton himself approved of my choice!” I started inching away from the line and he smiled and said “Yeah definitely! Spread the message! It was very nice meeting you!”
That’s when I realized the line was moving so slow not because of the fans, but because Tom Felton was giving so much attention/conversing with everyone who came up to him. It was seriously precious. So yeah, it was short and sweet. I’m happy I got to say hey. Hope ya got something from this :)
The “I’ve met” list
Growing up, my dad always told me stories about these amazing celebrities that he ran into constantly right in his own home town: Brooklyn, NY. It used to fascinate me that he would point out someone on my TV screen that I idolized and just say “I remember the first time I bumped into Eddie Murphy…” I was obsessed with his stories and continuously milked him for details on what they were like in real life. Of course, I’ve grown up a lot since then, met more celebrities than I can remember sometimes and am on own path to work in the industry someday. So needless to say, I’m more than aware that celebrities are just regular people. Still, when I hear a celebrity that inspires me is in the area, I don’t pass up on an opportunity to have my moment with them. And I’d probably be lying if I said there aren’t ANY actors/musicians I internally fangirl over. But perhaps the most fulfilling part about it all is to go back and tell my stories to other fans who haven’t gotten an opportunity to meet that idol of theirs and are just dying to know what they’re like.
Which is why I thought I’d construct this masterlist of people I’ve had the opportunity to meet! If you see an idol of yours on here, feel free to message me and ask all about HOW I got to meet them, my best advice on how YOU can meet them, and just how they were in person :) I’ll continue to add people as I remember/meet new ones. So, without further adieu..
Who I’ve met:
(* means I’ve met them more than once)
Sean Patrick Flanery
Richard Speight Jr*
Lou Taylor Pucci
Billie Joe Armstrong
Eveyone in New Found Glory
Everyone in Bowling For Soup
Robert Downey Jr.
Jon Bon Jovi
And uh, Max Bemis held my hand one time.
I was close enough to see Paul McCartney and Paul Rudds sweat drip down their faces when my friends and I saw a Saturday Night Live dress rehearsal. We saw McCartney joke around with the techs before skits started and then later prepare his instruments. We saw Paul Rudd get quickly changed multiple times and then later headbang to Paul McCarntneys mashup of “Give Peace A Chance/A Day In The Life” in the crowd like one of the fans (because he was one.) It was pretty great.
Welp, there ya have it! My master list. Fun times. Feel free to bother me about details if you’re ever really curious about an experience. Or don’t. Either or. You have free will and stuff. That is all. Love you creepily.
Okay so between work, classes, being utterly puzzled by GISHWHES, friends and Rocky Horror I’ve been home almost not at all. Thus the lack of DragonCon stories/responding to the overwhelming amount of messages. HOWEVER, for the next 3 hours I’m babysitting the neighbors so I’m gunna go through some messages and answer some questions about the phenomenal people I met at DragonCon! Yayayay.
HOME FROM DRAGONCON
I’M BACK, BABYDOLL. And I have nothing to do today but tell you guys ALL. ABOUT. IT. And there is some GOOD stuff, too. This weekend was absolutely flawless and I don’t know HOW I got so lucky. I had extended time with everyone I wanted to meet and even people I didn’t care for meeting originally but was glad I did. And I barely spent a dime!
But I need feedback from you guys…there’s A LOT of stuff. Like, my 3 days of Misha alone would get it’s own slot. That’s why I mostly tweeted everything for people who just wanted highlights but there was a lot more to each. So what would you guys rather me do… a.) make master posts about EACH DAY, b.) master posts about EACH PERSON, c.) master posts about each CAST (including their panel if I saw it), d.) VIDEO explanations of each person, e.) VIDEO explanations of each cast (including their panel if I saw it), or f.) just let you guys message me a name/panel/event and if you want a written response or video response to it with my experience?
I’M EXPLODING WITH STORIEEEESSS I CAN’T EVENNNN.
